Do Mason Bees hibernate?Updated 3 months ago
Mason bees spend the majority of their lives in their nesting chamber. The mother bee lays her egg inside a nesting cavity, with all the food the emerging larva will need. The larvae eats, grows, forms its cocoon, and develops into an adult. The adult mason bee hibernates in the nesting cavity until it is ready to emerge in the early spring. There it will be very active for 4-6 weeks in the springtime, pollinating, and starting the life cycle all over again.
