What is the black object I see at the top of my chrysalis?Updated 2 years ago
Your caterpillars will shed their skins several times before transforming into a chrysalis and once they've finished their transformation, you might notice a black object attached to the top of the chrysalis. You don’t need to worry, that black object is part of the leftover exoskeleton of the caterpillar. Sometimes a little piece of this shed skin remains attached to the top of the chrysalis and it won’t affect your butterfly’s growth at all.
