What should I do during the chrysalis stage?Updated 7 months ago
The chrysalis stage is a quiet but exciting time during your butterfly raising experience. Inside the chrysalis the caterpillar is turning to liquid and rearranging itself to form a butterfly. During this delicate time, be sure not to handle the cup and disturb the chrysalides.
You'll first notice your caterpillars hanging in a "J" shape when they are getting ready to form the chrysalis. Once they have formed, give them three days to harden before carefully moving them with the Chrys-A-Lid system and placing them into the butterfly habitat.
When you are moving them, they might wiggle a little bit. Don't worry, this is a natural response to threats and your chrysalides are totally fine. Once they are in the butterfly habitat, it's a waiting game! The chrysalis stage takes around 7-10 days.
