What should I do when my Cup of Caterpillars™ arrives?Updated 4 months ago

Welcome to your butterfly raising journey. Here's what to do when your Cup of Caterpillars™ arrives.

  • Do not open the Cup of Caterpillars™.
    • Opening the cup can introduce bacteria to your caterpillar friends and harm their metamorphosis process.
  • Your caterpillars may be inactive for the first 24-48 hours after they arrive.
    • This is normal behavior, they have to adjust after their journey to you! Please give them time to acclimate.
  • Webbing is normal and is a sign your caterpillars are happy and healthy!
    • It is spun by the caterpillars to help them hang onto their surroundings.
  • The caterpillars come with all the food they need at the bottom of the cup.
  • There are multiple air holes punched in the lid of the cup, your caterpillars have all the oxygen they need.
  • This is an observational project, do not handle or shake the cup.
  • Do not place your caterpillars in direct sunlight, or anywhere they can be exposed to heat or drafts.
